Melissa studied documentary photography at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague, The Netherlands.
With her work, Melissa explores relationships between individuals and their environments through very choreographic and physical stagings. Her work is at the border of staged and documentary photography. She perceives the camera as a powerful tool where fact and fiction can work together to explore modern, social issues. “Ultimately I would like my work to raise questions and about how we relate to one another and our personal environment,» she says.

Melissa has worked internationally for a variety of clients, with a special interest in the fashion and magazine world. Clients include Canon, Die Zeit, Working Women, Emotion Magazine, Fresh Cut Flowers, Harvard Manager Magasin, Balagan Studio.
